Keri Fitzsimmons, MD is a board-certified pediatrician with more than 20 years of experience caring for children and supporting families. A UNC-grown physician, Dr. Fitzsimmons completed both her medical school education and Pediatric Residency at the University of North Carolina, bringing a deep understanding of evidence-based pediatric care and community-focused medicine.
Before entering medicine, Dr. Fitzsimmons worked as a classroom teacher in Durham — an experience that continues to shape her approach to pediatrics. She values education, prevention, and taking the time to help families understand their child’s health, development, and well-being. Her care philosophy emphasizes a holistic approach that supports both medical and personal aspects of a child’s life.
Drawing from her background as a competitive gymnast for 18 years, Dr. Fitzsimmons places a strong emphasis on healthy habits, including nutrition, physical activity, and structured peer engagement. She works closely with her pediatric patients and families to help incorporate these habits into everyday life.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Fitzsimmons enjoys spending time with her husband, Leo, their three children, and their dog, Sparky. As a parent herself, she has a deep appreciation for the joys and challenges families face and believes strongly in the role of family and faith as foundational elements in a child’s life.
